Jesse moved from Wisconsin to San Diego in 1980. In 1992 he attended design school in Florida and worked as an illustrator in a printing shop. He created cartoon characters and greeting cards. He found that he had an ability to create attractive layouts that were in high demand. From there he worked at a major newspaper and several smaller advertising agencies before moving back to San Diego. A few years later in 1998 he launched his solo design career as karras.com which he runs full-time to this day.

Nick Karras (Jesse's father) who is an event and construction photographer asked his son to assist and photograph during events in the early 90's. Jesse enjoyed the work and ended up getting clients of his own over the years. Karras balances the design and photography work and enjoys the benefits and creative differences of each profession.

Jesse has a wide range of creative interests and skills that include writing music and video production as well as small business ventures. He is currently creating a children's book and designing a course to teach fiscal responsibility. Jesse is a self-motivated optimist who looks for the good in situations and people.

Jesse currently lives in Seattle Washington.
